New partnership with the American Brain Tumor Association to support people living with glioblastoma
The PAN Foundation and the American Brain Tumor Association today announced they are launching a new partnership to help people living with glioblastoma, providing up to $1,600 per year in financial assistance and support services for patients and their caregivers or loved ones.
Glioblastoma multiforme, also known as glioblastoma, is a grade four malignant brain tumor. It is the most aggressive and deadly form of brain cancer, which invades nearby regions of the brain and in rare cases, spreads elsewhere in the body.
The Cleveland Clinic estimates that 13,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with glioblastoma each year. Glioblastomas account for nearly 50 percent of cancerous brain tumors. The average age at diagnosis is 64.
“We are pleased to partner with the American Brain Tumor Association and expand the support we offer to people living with glioblastoma,” said PAN President and CEO Kevin L. Hagan. “It’s our goal to ease the financial and emotional burdens felt by those diagnosed, as well as their loved ones. We are certain that this new partnership will be a benefit to many.”
The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) provides comprehensive resources to support the complex needs of brain tumor patients and caregivers, across all ages and tumor types, as well as the critical funding of research.
“This aggressive disease requires multiple forms of treatment, and each of them are expensive, particularly for older adults who may be living on a fixed income,” said ABTA President and CEO Ralph DeVitto. “We are grateful to join forces with PAN to offer educational resources, social support, and financial assistance.”
Patients who qualify for the PAN Foundation Glioblastoma Multiforme Fund are eligible to receive $1,600 per year in financial assistance.
